48 Hour – ‘Bloke Blitz’
What ya thinking?….beer, snags, sport, bar room brawls?
Not quite, this time.
Wanted to bond 1-on-1 with my nearly 15yo son Zak, and learn all about him at close range before he heads back to school. Our plan was to do as much guy stuff as we can in ‘48 hours’ and record it on our new GoPro Hero 4 Silver video camera.
The aim was to simply let our surroundings take us wherever, and create a doco style movie as a team. The only rules were that we had to do it together, and not use our phones or computers for 48 hours….ahhh! no Facebook, no social media and no contact with anyone else.
Sounds easy, but it certainly wasn’t. The amount of times I reached for the phone was insane. For two days we lived ‘old school’ and as a twist ordered meals for each other forcing us to try new foods that we wouldn’t normally.
We walked Adelaide’s most dangerous streets, visited our best beaches, ate at iconic cafes, hung with old people, witnessed the zombie walk, had a unique experience with the homeless, and were forced to live in one of the smallest hotel rooms ever. This in itself for two big guys was a massive challenge but what we learnt about our city, it’s people, and each other will all be revealed soon.
